Information for Parents

Getting Ready for Camp

Clothing & Equipment

Your child/adolescent will be active at camp and will require clothing and equipment for sunshine, rain  and  warm  & cooler temperatures.  Clothing is well worn at camp! Simple and practical clothes are best for camp.  Clothing that can be layered depending on the temperature is a good idea.

Please leave valuable articles of clothing and equipment at home.

We promote an environmentally friendly approach in all that we do at camp.  Please try to send products that are biodegradable and friendly to our environment.

Packing Information

Storage and cabin space is limited.  Please send only what your child will need.  Pack clothes & equipment in baggage that can be stored easily (e.g. hockey bags, duffel bags).

Please pack all clothing and equipment into no more than 2 bags.

Please write your child’s full name in a visible location on all bags.

Laundry & Clothing Labels

Our campers’ laundry is done weekly by staff at Camp Towhee.  It is essential that all clothing be clearly identified.  Your child/adolescent’s name must be on each article of clothing.

We will enclose an order form from the Ontario Camps Association for iron on name labels for clothing, as well as a brochure from “Stuck on You” who provide stick-on labels.

Equipment (boots, shoes, toiletries, sleeping bag, etc.) can be labeled with your child’s name by using a permanent marker.
